Mechanism of Action
How does Catacrom work?
Catacrom contains sodium cromoglicate, a mast cell stabiliser. It works by preventing mast cells from releasing the chemical substances (histamine and other mediators) that cause the symptoms of allergic conjunctivitis.
By acting prophylactically to stabilise mast cells before allergen exposure, Catacrom prevents the allergic cascade — reducing redness, watering, itching and puffiness at the ocular surface.

Clinical Applications
First-line allergy therapy
Seasonal Allergic Conjunctivitis
Triggered by tree pollen, grass pollen and other seasonal allergens — Catacrom prevents mast cell degranulation and the resulting inflammatory cascade.
Perennial Allergic Conjunctivitis
Year-round reactions from dust mites, pet fur and cosmetics — consistent daily use provides ongoing mast cell stabilisation.
